Webinar: What is killing blueberry plants in South Central AK?

April 8, 2015 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

WHAT IS KILLING SALMON and BLUEBERRY PLANTS in SOUTH CENTRAL ALASKA? IS IT RELATED TO CLIMATE CHANGE? North Pacific Landscape Conservation Cooperation (NPLCC) presents this Science-Management Webinar from 9 to 10am AK time. An outbreak of Geometrid moths has decimated subsistence berry harvest in South Central Alaska. This project developed a risk model to predict where subsistence berry plants will be most resistant to Geometrid attack. These models were used to determine if and how silvicultural treatments could enhance the abundance and productivity of blueberry plants. NATHAN LOJEWSKI of the Chugachmiut will lead the discussion. For more about the project, go to http://www.northpacificlcc.org/berry-risk-mapping-modeling-of-native-exotic-defoliators-in-alaska.
