Healing Damaged Habitat

Although remote and largely undeveloped, many parts of Southeast Alaska have been altered by urbanization and resource extraction. These land-use activities can adversely impact stream, wetland, and forest ecosystems that help sustain fish and wildlife, subsistence opportunities, cultural connection, and the regional economy.

We use partnerships, local knowledge, and science to assess watershed conditions and identify solutions for habitat problems. Using this information, we implement projects that address stormwater pollution, repair logging-damaged salmon habitat, eradicate invasive plants, restore fish passage, and improve forest health.
