Fukushima: A View From the Ocean

June 18, 2014 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

June 18 (TELECONFERENCE SEMINAR)

FUKUSHIMA: A VIEW FROM THE OCEAN will be held at 9am as part of the Alaska Collaborative on Health and the Environment (CHE-Alaska) teleconference seminar series. More than three years after the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant accident in Japan, questions remain about how much radioactive material has been released and how widely and quickly it is dispersing across the Pacific Ocean. Join KEN BUESSELER, director the Center for Marine and Environmental Radioactivity at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) for an update on what is known about radioactivity levels in the Pacific Ocean and to find out how Alaskans can get involved in monitoring radiation levels through a unique collaboration between citizens and scientists to collect and analyze seawater. Sponsored by Alaska Community Action on Toxics. To join this FREE call and receive the dial-up instructions, go to:  http://www.akaction.org/?p=3578 to sign up or RSVP to ACAT atdiana@akaction.org or (907) 222-7714.
