John applies his expertise in aquatic ecology, fisheries, and habitat restoration to help partners steward watersheds throughout Southeast Alaska. His work draws from 14 years of experience conducting watershed assessments, developing stewardship plans, and implementing projects that improve water quality, control invasive plants, and restore and enhance fish and wildlife habitat damaged by urbanization and poor logging practices.
John is involved in all aspects of watershed stewardship, from basin-wide assessments to site survey and design; project permitting, implementation and monitoring; and outreach and education. He gets great satisfaction from recognizing a problem, building partnerships and finding resources to address the issue, and, most of all, conducting hands-on restoration projects alongside our partners throughout the region. In his spare time, John collects beach glass, repairs his home, and catches dragonflies.
