Stormwater Drain ID and Tagging Campaign
JWP staff traversed downtown Juneau and Douglas, idenfiying, mapping, and tagging storm drain catch basins and inlets to improve our knowldge of the distribution of storm water inlets.
Special "No Dumping! Drains To Stream" tags were affixed near each drain to inform the public that each inlet does not send water, debris, or pollution to any water treatment plant as sewers do. In fact, these storm water catch basins convey water straight into streams or the ocean. Any pollutants dumped into these inlets will eventually reach fresh or salt water, where fish, waterfowl, and wildlife live and feed.
